Wexford and Galway make winning starts

Wexford and Galway recorded wins over UCD and Westmeath respectively as they made their competitive bows for 2015 in the Bord na Móna Walsh Cup.

Joe Kelly was top scorer for Wexford with 1-7 in their 1-21 to 0-15 win over UCD in Gorey.

At Cusack Park, Galway claimed a 1-21 to 1-16 win over Westmeath. Galway moved 0-9 to 0-4 ahead in the second quarter and led until the end. The Tribesmen's only goal arrived seven minutes from the end through top-scorer Jason Flynn (1-12).

In Munster, Limerick came from seven points down to defeat Waterford 2-15 to 1-15 in an entertaining contest at Kilmallock. Limerick will face UCC in the semi-final after the students defeated Kerry 2-23 to 2-14 at Austin Stack Park.

Cork will face Clare in the other semi-final after they scored 2-4 in the closing stages of their clash with Cork IT to win by 4-15 to 1-13, while the Banner edged out Tipperary 0-16 to 0-15.
