ALL-IRELAND SFC QUALIFIERS RounD 3B
GALWAY v DERRY
(Pearse Stadium, Today, 3.0, Live Sky)
THAT win in Armagh last week was precisely the sort of victory Galway haven't pulled off these past few barren seasons and thus, optimism is understandably raised.
If anything, the Tribesmen bullied the home side, not a trait for which they've been known of late.
A reproduction of that steel here and they'll win.
ODDS: Galway 4/5, Draw 15/2, Derry 11/8
VERDICT: Galway
Tyrone can put halt to Tipp gallop
TIPPERARY v TYRONE
(Thurles, Today, 5.0, Live Sky)
FOR reasons not particularly applicable to the vast majority of players lining out in Thurles today, this should be a feisty one.
The All-Ireland Under 21 final and the allegations of sledging and all the acrimonious fall out from that match have been whirling about in Tipperary football ever since and if there is a game or opposition tailored for the county to record the one big victory we've all been expected them to achieve in these last few progressive years, this could well be the one.
Even given the paucity of opposition, the 3-21 to 0-7 win Tipperary recorded over Louth last Saturday was very impressive but Tyrone have a habit of making seasons out of the sort of grizzly victory they had over Meath in Omagh on the same day and they're wise enough now to win here too.
ODDS: Tipperary 6/4, Draw 15/2, Tyrone 8/11
VERDICT: Tyrone
