President Joan ends 'journey' with tea at the árasTHE boss has sent her last blog from the presidential palace.

It was Joan O'Flynn's 36th offering. She'll leave office next weekend at the annual Congress in Cork.

But she is already preparing for life back in the ordinary world. She has bought a new pair of boots.

She'll be wearing into them in her role as part of the Celbridge senior camogie management team.

"They are a little bit too clean and shiny at the moment," she smiles. But she promises that will soon change.

Joan's last days in the control tower are as busy as ever. And they contained a real treat -- afternoon tea in the áras with President Michael D Higgins.

While there, she met Clane's Louise Conlon, who won a National League medal with Kildare. Louise is the aide de camp to President Higgins.

Joan was afforded no such luxury from Croke Park, but she still offered everybody a thousand thanks.

"It's been a journey to cherish. It has been a wonderful privilege and opportunity."

Joan will now hand over the chain to a Dub, Aileen Lawlor.

Let's hope there's many more blog-busters to look forward to.
