THERE wasb no final flourish as Dublin's National League Division 1 campaign concluded with defeat to Offaly last Sunday.
h The camogie team were on the same O'Connor Park bill as the Dublin hurlers. But it was Offaly who had four points to spare at the finish, 2-15 to 1-14.
h Following last week's excellent show against Kilkenny in O'Toole Park, which didn't produce the Easter egg, the Blues were certainly determined.
h They deserved to get a draw at least in Crumlin. And a victory wouldn't have flattered them. Far from it.
h Yet in Tullamore, the county chief, Denis Murphy, didn't pour any Hellmanns on his post-match verdict.
h "We could have won it, but, in all truth, we didn't deserve to," admitted Denis.
h "We are disappointed with the result. We feel at this stage we should be capable of winning games like this."
