Team of the Decade

Many of the county's finest players of recent times were recognised for their efforts when named on the Dublin Camogie County Board's Team of the Decade (2004-2014).

The Camogie Association launched the County Player of the Decade initiative earlier in the year as part of its 110-year celebrations with representatives from the Dublin clubs electing the Dublin Player of the Decade, where the winner will be announced shortly.

In conjunction with this initiative, the Dublin Camogie County Board set up a sub-committee to choose the Dublin Camogie Team of the Decade 2005-2015.

It is a wonderful opportunity for the county board to acknowledge the skills and dedication of the players from the last 10 years and to reward them for their outstanding contribution while representing Dublin.

Selection was based on a criterion that highlights sportsmanship, playing excellence at county level, longevity of playing career and dedication and commitment over their careers.

Honoured

The players selected will be honoured at a special function in the Hilton Hotel, Kilmainham on Saturday 16 August at 2.00pm.

They will receive a once-off commissioned piece of Dublin Crystal and a limited number of tickets are available for this event costing €20 each.

These will be on a first-come, first-served basis and must be ordered before midday Thursday, 14th. Contact Brendan Cooper at 086-3180092.

The team selected is a wonderful blend of the finest players to have represented the county over the last decade, with Eimear Butler from St Vincent's selected between the sticks.

She is joined on the team by clubmates Emer Brannigan and Aine Fanning on a selection that features players from nine clubs within the county.

Naomh Mearnóg can also feel justifiably proud of their personnel with four players having represented the Portmarnock club having being honoured in this selection while Erin's Isle will be thrilled to see both Ann Marie McCluskey and Louise O'Hara rewarded.
