Teachers invited to games courses

SCHOOL'S in for summer – for teachers! The Primary Teacher's Summer Courses are being held throughout the country. Erin's Isle will host the Dublin event in July.

The aim is to help teachers deliver elements of the PE curriculum through the medium of Gaelic Games.

Ladies football, camogie, hurling, Gaelic football, handball and rounders will all be on the agenda.

"The feedback from the courses has been very positive, so our message is to encourage teachers to book a place on one of these courses," says Pat Culhane, National GAA Child Co-ordinator for Games Development.

"This year for the first time we will be piloting two blended courses using our new E-Learning Management System," added Pat.

The courses very much concentrate on the basics and they are organised by local education centres, under the remit of the Department of Education and Skills, and they are given by Development staff and tutors.

The Dublin course takes place at Farnham Drive, Finglas (July 1-5) from 9.30am to 2pm. More details from (01) 857 6499. www.ecdrumcondra.com. info@ecdrumcondra.ie. www.ladiesgaelic.ie
