Take charge for New Year – learn to become a ref!

THE Dublin camogie board want you to make a New Year's resolution – become a referee.

Officials are seeking to increase the number of female referees taking charge of games around the county.

It's a super way to keep fit and to keep in touch with the sport. The whistle could particularly suit former players.

Maybe they have drifted away from the game due to work or family duties.

Becoming a referee presents the ideal opening for a return.

Legislators would love to see ex-players, adult players and female mentors to attend a new starter referee's course which will start in mid-January.

If you are interested email dublincamogieref@gmail.com or call Gary Beagan on 085-1743646.

The initiative is being backed by the Camogie President, Aileen Lawlor, who was a top referee herself.

Dublin has a proud history in refereeing.

They have produced some of the best referees of them all.

Now they want to mould some more.
