Stern Donegal test awaits the Dubs in Cavan

DUBLIN are in the All-Ireland Minor Championship semi-final on Saturday. They'll play Donegal in Breffni Park.

Dubs boss, Conor Barry, won't need directions. He's from Cavan. It's his first year as minor manager.

The Dubs have done well, storming through Leinster with handsome wins over Laois, Wexford, Wicklow and Kildare before defeating Meath in the Leinster final.

But Conor knows the northern terrain will be more testing. Donegal come with a celebrated CV. They beat Cavan in the Ulster final. They scored six goals, Amber Barrett getting four of them.

The Cavan venue will bring back good memories for the Dubs. In 2008 they won their first All-Ireland title there.

They lifted the prize for the second time last season in Birr, overcoming Tyrone in a splendid spectacle.

Eight members of last season's crew are still on board, 15 clubs are represented in the squad.

Conor and his cohorts quickly got down to work when they were appointed. Such was the quality in the county that they could have picked two panels. Even three.

Ten of the players sat for their Leaving Cert, and now Conor is expecting Donegal to give the Dubs their biggest exam of all.
