Sars' set to blunt O'Toole's

DUBLIN SHC GROUP A

LUCAN SARSFIELDS v O'TOOLE'S

(TODAY, PARNELL PARK, 6.0)

LUCAN never want to see another semi-final. They contain too many bad memories.

So many times they have been so close to the big day. But they never got to march behind the band.

More often than not, it was Ballyboden that denied them their day in the sun. Lucan ran into Boden in their prime.

Lucan have been among the top Dublin sides for quite a stretch now. And they have the big names in Peter Kelly and Johnny McCaffrey.

Last year, after overcoming O'Toole's in the quarter-final, Lucan made the semi-final yet again only to fall to Kilmacud. And they'll expect a stern test from O'Toole's.

The Larriers enjoyed some golden days. They won the famous three-in-a-row in the 90s, they were champions again in 2002 and they were back in the final as recently as 2011.

Now they are rebuilding at Blunden Drive as the younger generation come into senior ranks and learn the craft from the likes of Ger O'Meara and Michael Carton.

O'Toole's have some injury concerns going into the tussle, but, like always, they'll battle for every crumb.

In such a competitive group, with Cuala and Craobh also in the mix, a good start would be welcome.

VERDICT: Lucan Sarsfields
