Ryan - Sars on the right road

GRAINNE RYAN was the Captain Fantastic that led Na Fianna to the Promised Land. An inspirational skipper in word and dedicated deed.

She had kind words for Lucan. "Lucan won the Shield this season. We won it last year, so it proves they are on the right road," stated Grainne, part of the heroic Glasnevin defence.

Since their elevation to the top table, Lucan have been a breeze of fresh air.

They are one of the hardest working camogie clubs in the county. And they have a terrific goalie in Kate Whyte. Her puck-outs in the North County were landing in the Cooley Mountains.

Mairi Moynihan is a treasure, Joelenne Hoary has gold in the timber, and Ali Twomey has the x-factor. Against Na Fianna, Emer Keenan struck a porcelain point.

But it's the overall approach of the squad that suggests bright days ahead. Lucan have served a long apprenticeship.

Dublin camogie needs Lucan. What they bring to the boardroom improves the city's overall share price.
