Ryan goal seals it for Jude's

St Jude's 2-12

St Brigid's 1-12

St Jude's pulled out all the stops to claim their second win of the Evening Herald Dublin SHC 'A' Group over a battling St Brigid's on Saturday at Tymon Park.

Tied at 1-8 apiece heading into the final quarter, the game swung in Jude's favour when John Ryan's low drive skipped into the net.

Substitute Timmy McCarthy and David Ryan put further daylight between the sides with excellent accuracy while the back line, led by an inspired display from Ross O'Brien, held firm.

In an action packed game, Jude's Sam Lehane raised the green flag in the fifth minute after a wonderful run from Ronan Joyce set up the towering full forward.

Brigid's dead ball specialist and Dublin U-21 hurler Aodhán McEnerney kept the visitors in touch. Jude's midfield pairing of Niall Mangan and Joyce then stepped up to the mark.

Sublime

A well-worked goal from Brigid's full forward Cian O'Mahony prior to Jude's Cormac Grogan landing a sublime point left it 1-4 to 1-4 at the break.

Both sides traded points after the restart, McEnerney added three more frees, while the pick of Jude's scores came from wing back Stephen Larkin before John Ryan found the net.
