Ryan fires over late equaliser

AN injury-time free from Colin Ryan saw Clare earn a 0-18 to 1-15 draw in their Allianz HL Division 1A duel at Ennis.

Ryan was only as a second half sub but showed great mettle to slot the equaliser as the Banner set up a quarter-final date against Laoi while Galway will face Limerick in their last-eight encounter.

Clare had to battle with 14 men for the entire second half after Shane Golden was sent off in the 30th minute as they trailed 0-8 to 0-9 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute Galway's Cathal Mannion struck for the game's only goal, which pushed his side two points in front.

However, the accuracy of Tony Kelly was telling as he finished the game with a personal tally of 0-12 (11 frees)

Davy Fitzgerald introduced Conor McGrath and Ryan, who both contributed.

Only one point the sides in injury time when ref Diarmuid Kirwan awarded Clare a disputed free which Ryan converted.
