Ryan brace seals progress for five-star Brigid's

A physically stronger St Brigid's won a hard-fought battle in Newcastle last night but at a cost of losing marksman Kevin Bonner for the rest of the Championship.

Bonner received a straight red for talking back to referee Tony Lambe.

Man of the match Philly Ryan opened the scoring with points in quick succession as Davis started sheepishly and he went on to claim 2-5.

Paddy Andrews then mimicked his All-Ireland final point while Paul Hudson popped over a long range effort as Brigid's led 3-7 to 0-6 at the break.

Davis found their feet at the restart through Ciarán Farrelly but Brigid's had too much class, finding scorers at will. Lorcan McCarthy came into his own and Andrews blasted to the top corner to see Brigid's march on.
