DUBLIN will enter a 'lose-lose' situation in Croke Park on Sunday in their Leinster SFC opener, according to Rory O'Carroll.

Jim Gavin's men are unbackable favourites to beat Longford amid further talk of extending their period of provincial dominance and their pre-Championship status as All-Ireland favourites.

"There is lots of different talk, every single year about every single game," said O'Carroll.

"I tend to never take any notice of those sort of comments…Jim is very focussed on the opposition. He wouldn't let our standards slip. We wouldn't prepare for any game differently than another.

"For us in many ways, and for people looking in, it's a lose-lose scenario," the Kilmacud defender added.

"We're expected to win and if we lose, we're branded as losing to a Division Four team. It's going to be tough either way."

Recalling last year's All-Ireland SFC semi-final defeat, when Dublin were heavily fancied to beat Donegal, O'Carroll pointed out: "We were highly exposed and we did pay for that."
