Rib injury cuts off Power for Cats' final

RICHIE POWER has emerged as a major Kilkenny doubt as the Cats seek to retain their NHL crown against Tipperary next Sunday, writes FRANK ROCHE.

The Carrickshock attacker played for his club at the weekend but was very sore afterwards, with X-rays revealing at least two damaged ribs.

Michael Rice (groin) is also doubtful but Michael Fennelly should be available after his recent hamstring injury, having lined out for Ballyhale Shamrocks at the weekend.

Tipperary's chief concern is Padraic Maher, who had to come off after suffering a severe arm laceration while playing for Thurles Sarsfields on Saturday.

Michael Cahill (hip) is expected to be fit for consideration.

Galvin a doubt for Limerick's opener

Limerick boss Maurice Horan revealed after his side's Allianz Football League Division 4 title win on Saturday that the injury to John Galvin is not too serious.

However the midfielder, making his first competitive start in almost a year, could miss Limerick's Munster Championship opener against Cork on May 25 after going off in the latter stages of his side's 0-16 to 1-11 win over Offaly.

"Just a hamstring," he said of Galvin.

"He just strained it. I don't think it's serious but in terms of the Cork match it could be serious."
