LAOIS finished this contest in dramatic fashion when dethroning current holders Dublin by 2-15 to 0-17 in their Leinster U21 HC quarter-final in O’Moore Park back in June 2012.
Ben Reddin’s injury-time goal capped a frantic end to the game, as the reigning Leinster champions were beaten despite showing commendable reserves to restore parity near the end.
The first half had been a closely fought affair as there was never more than a score between the teams as the Dubs led by two at the break (0-10 to 0-8) with Ger McManus’ penalty save from Stephen Maher the highlight of a lacklustre opening half.
The tempo increased hugely upon the restart and Neil Foyle’s superb goal handed Laois the initiative against a Dublin side that failed to display their potential in a largely disappointing performance.
The teams were level at the end of normal time, but a wonderful point from Foyle edged the O’Moore men in front, and Reddin’s goal capped a wonderful night for Laois.
