Rebels cruise into decider

CORK cruised into a Munster SFC final after defeating Clare by nine points, 1-20 to 1-11, in yesterday's provincial semi-final at Cusack Park, Ennis.

The Rebels did the damage in the opening 18 minutes as they opened up a 0-7 to 0-0 lead, before Thomas Davis clubman Shane McGrath, and were never in any trouble against Mick O'Dwyer's men.

Daniel Goulding was Cork's scorer-in-chief as he tallied 1-5 - his goal coming in the 29th minute as his side led 1-11 to 0-7 at the interval.

U-21 star Brian Hurley was also in impressive scoring form for Conor Counihan's men - he finished with five points (including two frees) in his account.

Paul Kerrigan had stretched Cork's half-time advantage on the restart but a Gary Brennan goal briefly raised Clare hopes of a comeback.

They were short-lived as three quickfire Goulding points before the three-quarter mark pushed the Rebels eight clear, 1-15 to 1-7, to as good a set up a Munster final against perennial rivals Kerry.
