FORMER Offaly footballer, Joe Quinn is set to join the Westmeath backroom team as physical trainer for next season.
Quinn, who runs a sports conditioning centre in Clara, will link up with his club-mate, Westmeath football manager, Pat Flanagan.
Back in 2009, Quinn was struck down suddenly by illness and his heart stopped for 15 minutes but made a remarkable recovery to get back playing football for his club.
Flanagan dedicated Clara's Offaly SFC success that year to Quinn, recalling how the defensive ace had been "fighting for his life" earlier in the year.
Westmeath get their 2012 Allianz NFL Division 2 programme underway against Louth (Sunday, February 5) with games to follow against Meath (home), Galway (home), Tyrone (away), Monaghan (home), Kildare (away) and concluding their regulation matches against Derry in Mullingar.
