Quigley's on fire as Jude's 'knock Castle'

ST JUDE'S captured the Dublin JHC 'D' title, 1-16 to 0-13, after a massive battle with Castleknock at O'Toole Park, writes Diarmuid Geraghty.

The Templeogue men were always in control of this one, and a goal five minutes into the second half from Kieran Quigley ensured that they would be able to see it out with little fuss.

Quigley, who finished with 1-6, did a lot of damage on the scoreboard while Enda Maher was also prominent as they opened up a four-point league at the break.

The backs laid the foundations for their early advantage with blocking and hooking a feature throughout.

To their credit, however, the Dublin 15 men rallied as Stephen Donaldson clipped over some fine scores as the gap was cut to a point. Ciarán O'Dwyer was also impressing while midfielder Conaill Purcell drove them on at every opportunity.

But Jude's always had another gear and after Quigley netted they powered home. Diarmuid McLoughlin put in a hugely influential shift from wing forward while Oisín O'Donnell also chipped in. Substitute Fionn ó Riain, meanwhile, made a telling impact from the bench, chipping in with a vital score and adding much needed fresh legs.

Castleknock boss Patsy Hough was gracious in defeat: "They won by six and in truth they were six points better than us on the day. Congratulations to them and fair play."
