Plunkett's and Faughs set to reel in the years

DUBLIN SHC GROUP B

FAUGHS v ST OLIVER PLUNKETT'S/ER

(TODAY, O'TOOLE PARK, 6.0)

A MATCH that reels back the years. Eoghan Ruadh were one of the great Dublin hurling clubs. Golden days in the Phoenix Park.

And then there's the famous Faughs. They have won more Dublin Senior Hurling Championships than anybody else – 31. You can also throw 28 senior league titles into the mix.

Eoghan Ruadh won their only championship crown in 1951. Faughs were last champions in 1999.

Plunkett's/ER are now back with the big boys. There's plenty of talent emerging on the Navan Road, just like at Tymon.

Last season, Plunkett's/ER reached the Senior B Championship final. They fell to Ballyboden B in a tight one. Paddy Curtin, Paddy Bergin and Stuart Mullen have worn the jersey with elegance.

Last term, Faughs didn't proceed to the knock-out stages, but they had some decent displays to look back on, helped by Trevor Donohue, Emmet McKenna, Maurice O'Brien and Fegal Heavey.

VERDICT: Faughs
