Parnell's prove extra special to see off Syls

THE car park was full in Swords yesterday afternoon. The customers got terrific value.

There was only one team in it in extra-time as Talty's Troops sprinted for home. Now in the quarter-final of the Evening Herald Dublin SFC, it should be some fun against the 'Mun.

John Murtagh and MJ Tierney were the chief cashiers, but it was the overall zest of the Coolock club that earned victory. It was 0-5 each at half-time. Five minutes into the second half, Darren Clarke was denied a goal by a brilliant save from Stephen Cluxton.

Yet two minutes later David Glennon had the ball in the Parnell's net. Two late Parnell's frees sent the tussle to extra-time where Nell's enjoyed an electric start.

They pushed ahead 1-14 to 1-9 by half-time in extra-time and then hit the opening three points of its second period from Rory Quinlivan, Rooney and Murtagh.

Gary Sweeney struck a late goal for Syls but by then many people were already in their cars.
