Naomh Mearnóg manager Dave Killeen paid tribute to his panel following their hugely impressive display when claiming the Dublin Under 21 'C' Football Championship title against Na Fianna last Saturday afternoon.
That 3-13 to 1-7 final scoreline was an accurate barometer of his side's dominance over the hour and Killeen was quick to acknowledge the efforts of his players when claiming such a noteworthy success.
"I thought that the lads were outstanding, especially in the first-half when we completely controlled the game and all the management were delighted with how the lads played," said Killeen.
That first-half display, where Naomh Mearnóg enjoyed a 2-8 to 0-3 interval lead, was a pleasure to behold and there was no let up after the break as the Portmarnock team cruised to a comfortable win.
Having lost a minor final earlier in the year, it was especially rewarding for the North Dublin club to finally secure a championship title after years of near-misses.
"We are delighted to win our first bit of championship silverware with this bunch of lads. It meant an awful lot to all of the lads and it is great that we played to our potential in such an important game," added Killeen.
