Mortimer on form as Nells edge Larriers

A dominant first-half showing helped Parnells overcome near neighbours O'Toole's in their dour Dublin SFC first-round tie at Parnell Park last night.

O'Toole's struggled with their shooting in contrast to their opponents who seized the initiative through scores from Conor Mortimer, Darren Rooney and Johnny Murtagh.

Leading 0-7 to 0-2 at the break, Parnells stretched their lead through successive scores from Murtagh, Mortimer and Garry Collins to build a nine-point lead by the end of the third quarter.

ST PEREGRINE'S 4-11; CLONTARF 0-18

A classy showing from Robbie McCarthy helped St Peregrine's overcome Clontarf by five points in their entertaining Dublin SFC first-round encounter at Parnell Park last night.

McCarthy bundled home in the third minute to hand his side a dream start and a clinical goal 10 minutes later saw Peregrine's lead by 2-2 to 0-5, but Clontarf responded superbly and entered the interval 0-12 to 2-4 up.

However, with the sides level in the 49th minute, McCarthy crucially netted to hand Peregrine's a massive boost.
