Model display derails Dublin

A DUB, Martin Lynch, is managing Wexford. They arrived early to O'Toole Park on Sunday afternoon.

The last time they were in Crumlin, Dublin beat them in the league. But on this occasion, Wexford enjoyed a handsome 1-15 to 0-4 victory in the Leinster Senior Championship.

Ursula Jacob was slotting them over from all parts of the building. Ursula compiled 10 points, seven of them from play.

Katrina Parrock was at full-forward. She's another class act. She got two points. Players of this quality don't need an acre of space. A half-inch will do.

Parrock has a brilliant first touch. Seven minutes form time she showed marshmallow control to stop the sliotar dead before setting up Shelly Kehoe for a point at the road end.

The sun shone. But there was a stiff enough breeze, which blew into the road end. Dublin had it in the opening period.

The crowd was small. The excellent play of Dublin's full-back and captain, Grainne Quinn, gave them a lift. She caught and cleared some mighty ball before tea.

Dublin were behind at the interval, 1-4 to 0-3. They would have needed a goal early on the restart to turn on the switch.

The only goal came in the 26th minute. Fiona Kavanagh set off like the Bunclody Express.

A couple of defenders gave chase but she continued to sprint away before dispatching a dart to the right corner.

Parrock's point, from wide on the right, was the pick of the first-half roses.

Dublin's three points came from a Mairi Moynihan free, a tidy Alison Maguire strike and a classy Louise O'Hara free.

Maguire sent over Dublin's only point following the break. The Dubs lost their full-forward, Sarah Ryan, with a hand injury, but the river was only flowing one way as the slick Slaney side enhanced their tally.
