Mobhi boys make theirs a double!

NA FIANNA clinched a championship and league double when beating Kilmacud Crokes by 0-14 to 0-11 in the league decider at Collinstown last Saturday afternoon.

Having played with the elements in the first-half, the hosts led by just 0-7 to 0-6 at the interval but they improved after the break to secure that illustrious double following their championship final success over St Vincent's last month.

The visitors impressed initially with Tom Fox, full-back Mark O'Rourke, Eoin Sheehy and Stevie O'Dwyer to the fore and they made their good start tell through points from Johnny Maher, O'Dwyer, Fiachra O'Connor and Fox.

However, Matthew Oliver and Gavin King kept the home scoreboard ticking over through placed balls while Cathal Doran and Eoin O'Sullivan shone in a defensive capacity.

The hosts' defence was far more secure after the break and although Fox, O'Connor and Alex Considine all added points for Kilmacud, Fox's dismissal in the 40th minute and superb rearguard displays by Seán Baxter, Mark Sewell and Michael Gaffney saw Na Fianna home.

"It is great for the lads to end the year with the double," said Na Fianna mentor Declan Feeney. "The lads are going up to minor level and it is a very solid foundation for them.

"We have now won an under-15 and under-16 double over the past two years and I would imagine that some of the lads have a very bright future ahead of them in the game," he said.
