McGuire guides Maur's into final

Chris McGUIRE inspired St Maur's to an impressive 0-16 to 1-9 victory over Cuala in their Dublin SFC 'B' semi-final encounter in Rush last Saturday evening.

McGuire struck seven points over the hour while the excellent Ciarán Reddin, Chris Carthy and Davy O'Donnell all chipped in with two points apiece for the hosts.

Cuala always remained in the hunt but the hosts deservedly progressed to the decider thanks to strong contributions from Eoin Flethcer, Mikey Reilly, Pádraig Butterley, Sam McGuinness and substitute Kevin Nugent.

Their reward is a final clash against Round Tower Clondalkin next Monday evening as Tower's overcame UCD by 1-8 to 0-9 in Belfield on Friday night.

Ian Ward was once again in outstanding form for the visitors at centre-back, adorning a fine display with a critical score in the second-half.

The vital score arrived through a penalty from James Kelly after the break when the same player was upended and with Conor Lestrange and substitute Cathal Carty highly influential, Tower's confirmed their spot through a Niall Lanigan '45' in the last five minutes.

In the SFC relegation clashes, a goal from substitute Ian Fitzpatrick helped Erin's Isle to register a 1-10 to 0-9 win over Parnell's in Finglas.

David Spratt and Dale Murray excelled in the home defence and Isles remained in contention throughout through the attacking prowess of Danny Fagan and Paul Murray.

In Saggart, Seán McCann, Alan Marshall, Jack Maguire, Donnnacha Corcoran and Kieran Scanlon helped St Mary's to defeat O'Toole's by 1-16 to 0-12
