THERE'S something about Mayo! There is a lot to admire about this Mayo team who have been one of the most consistent teams in the country over the past four seasons.
If yesterday was ten years ago Mayo would have thrown in the towel and allowed Kerry to breeze into the final but with their backs against the wall they produced one of the really great second half performances.
Kerry looked to be home and hosed at the break but didn't come out to play in the second period. I have always maintained that teams live and die by their tactics and Kerry made the mistake of sitting back in the second half protecting their lead when they really should have pressed forward with the extra man.
Instead it was Mayo and in particular Aidan O'Shea and Cillian O'Connor who dictated the game and the former really stamped his authority on the game.
It might well go down as a missed opportunity for Mayo but I think if they can get their heads around the positives and go and play their game they can still make it to another All-Ireland final.
