DUBLIN ....................... 5-18

KILDARE ..................... 0-14

A long queue of contenders but Connolly shades our vote, not just for his effortlessly converted 2-3 but for his all-round contribution, winning kickouts and still bombing on at the final whistle.

JIM GAVIN (Dublin): Four weeks on from their Longford cakewalk, Gavin had his troops perfectly primed once again. After the first ten minutes, he could sit back and watch the massacre unfold. No pressure. RATING 8

JASON RYAN (Kildare): When there's such an obvious chasm in class, it's hard to be too critical. In hindsight, Ryan probably should have packed his defence with more bodies early on ... once the first two goals went in, it was (patently unsuccessful) damage limitation. RATING 5

DAVID COLDRICK (Meath): For such a lopsided encounter he was kept surprisingly busy, as various flashpoints broke out leading to five double-bookings in the second half. RATING 7
