LUCAN SARSFIELDS 0-25, CRUMLIN 1-17 - Lucan Sarsfields produced a dominant final quarter as they pulled away from Crumlin in their highly entertaining Dublin SHC quarter-final at O'Toole Park yesterday afternoon.

The influence of both Aidan Roche and Kevin O'Reilly can not be overestimated as they availed of a tiring Crumlin defence to share 10 points from play in the second half and effectively seal their progression to the last four.

However, Crumlin more than played their part in a pleasantly attacking encounter with Shane Martin and Wes O'Brien settling their side with two excellent scores inside the opening two minutes.

In contrast, Lucan struggled for fluency in the early stages and were indebted to the dead-ball prowess of Tommy Somers for scores although corner-forward Paddy Ward chipped in with a brace of fine scores.

Crumlin's Adam McGreal had been relatively subdued up until that point but his undoubted class was confirmed as he produced a wonderful rising shot beyond David Quinn after the impressive Shane Ryan had punched a hole through the Lucan defence in the 16th minute.

McGreal added two further scores as the half advanced and Kevin Byrne's point in injury time ensured a deserved 1-9 to 0-9 interval lead for the local side.

It was nip-and-tuck in the early stages of the second half with McGreal and Barry Aird trading sublime scores from play but gradually Sarsfields began to exert their dominance with O'Reilly striking two glorious points in quick succession from the right flank.

Roche was finding space between the lines for Lucan and his unerring accuracy and two well-taken points by the influential Johnny McCaffrey confirmed a hard-earned, five-point victory for Lucan.
