LONGFORD recovered from the concession of two early goals to beat Roscommon 0-16 to 2-8 at Pearse Park.
Cathal Cregg and Ger Heneghan found the net inside seven minutes to put Roscommon in control of the game, and they led 2-4 to 0-7 at the break.
But Longford were the superior side in the second half with Bernard McElvaney to the fore.
After the game, manager Glenn Ryan paid tribute to the response of his players, particularly in the second-half exchanges.
"We conceded two early goals but they held their composure, particularly midway through, and their tremendous fighting spirit shone through," said Ryan.
Ben Brosnan and goalscorers Redmond Barry and PJ Banville helped Wexford to a 2-20 to 1-8 over Tipperary at Wexford Park.
The Model County produced a tremendous attacking display to claim a convincing win.
Ulster sides Antrim and Cavan claimed victories on Saturday with the Saffrons beating 13-man Offaly 2-14 to 1-8 at Casement Park, while Sligo fell to the Breffni, 0-14 to 1-8, at Breffni Park.
