Limerick take hurling honours

Limerick won the Munster U21 Hurling Championship title in an extra-time epic at the Gaelic Grounds on a remarkable scoreline of 4-20 to 1-27.

Limerick struck for a goal after just 20 seconds through Graham Mulcahy.

But Cork played their way into the game, and five Aidan Walsh points helped Cork to a 0-12 to 1-7 interval lead.

Sean O'Brien and Mulcahy both hit the net again as Limerick forged ahead, but Cork hit back with a Luke O'Farrell goal.

And it was dual star Walsh, with his seventh point in stoppage time, who sent the decider to extra-time, tying it up at 3-14 to 1-20.

Cork led by three, 1-26 to 3-17, midway through added time, but senior star Declan Hannon smashed home the Treaty county's fourth goal to deny the Rebels in sensational fashion.
