Lilies pass on rule changes

January is always a month for reflection and review. The year just past was a good year for the Academy.

A very close encounter in the SFAI Kennedy Cup final plus a debut in the Northern .Ireland. Milk Cup along with successes in the Celtic International Cup and the Glasgow City Cup brought about a good spirit within the Academy.

The year climaxed with Academy players being capped at international level which finalised 2009 on a high note. While 2009 was a success in many ways the staff at the Academy realise that the coming year can be even better.

While the players are developing their skills many of the coaching staff are advancing their coaching qualifications which in return will bring a better quality and standard to the Academy. There is always room for improvement.

The year ahead can bring continued advancement provided the resources and the will to achieve are present.

The Academy staff is willing and able to continue the work with the development of the players and is calling on all NDSL personnel to unite for the betterment and the further development of the league. The facilities available to the Academy in the Oscar Traynor Coaching and Development Centre are excellent and are improving every year.

These facilities are a credit to the OTCDC, NDSL and the AFL and it is a centre that we should all be very proud of.

On the football front the January series of SFAI Inter League Cup games were delayed due to the bad weather but the programme will be completed before series 4 & 5 which are scheduled to be played on weekend of 6th & 7th February and 27th & 28th February respectively are in place.
