Kelly's young guns to stay

COLIN KELLY is confident that all of his rookie Louth charges will stay on board for the upcoming qualifiers following their Leinster SFC exit to Westmeath.

"Oh absolutely, I don't see why not. It's not an issue, not something I've even discussed with them - we're in it for the long haul," Kelly insisted.

Kelly has totally shaken up his squad following the retirements of Paddy Keenan and Shane Lennon and the absence of many other erstwhile regulars.

He handed out SFC baptisms to a raft of new recruits against Westmeath last Sunday and afterwards suggested: "I don't think there would have been a younger county team in the country playing championship."

Meanwhile, Meath are confident that Bryan Menton will recover from a finger injury - sustained in the warm-up to a recent challenge against Cavan - in time for their June 14 date with Wicklow.
