Jude's atone in style

ST JUDE'S gained a modicum of revenge for their 2011 first round defeat to St Anne's with a resounding 12-point win on the slippery, wind-swept Kiltipper artificial turf last night.

St Jude's . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1-16

St Anne's . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1-4

A blistering early start was kicked into gear by Joey Donnelly who cleared the bar after just 18 seconds. He departed moments later with a hamstring twinge but Jude's were four points to the good after six minutes.

Scott Fulham's penalty reduced the gap but Darren Gallagher scored four points for a 0-11 to 1-1 at half-time lead.

Anne's brief momentum after the restart was stunted when Niall Bergin was shown a second yellow before comeback hopes were dashed when Longford man Enda Dalton's effort dropped in with 15 minutes left.
