DAVY DALTON hopes that the worst of his injury nightmare is behind him after returning to club action in recent weeks.
The pacey Meath defender, son and namesake of the Kildare legend, has been bedevilled by injuries since last year's NFL Division Three final against Monaghan, with the result that he hasn't played any championship football.
An ankle injury in that game masked a more serious groin problem. He returned for this year's O'Byrne Cup and early league rounds before surgery became "inevitable".
However, he was back for Summerhill's last three club SFC outings, culminating in quarter-final defeat.
Dalton, 26, has been in ongoing contact with Mick O'Dowd but cautioned that any potential Royal comeback depended on discussions with the medical team. "It will probably still need to be managed for the rest of my football days, but it's more manageable," he told The Herald.
