Hurling: Faughs battle back to earn draw with Vins

ST VINCENT'S ensured their top flight status for another year after claiming a 0-14 apiece draw with Faughs in their Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 encounter at a windy Clonshaugh last night.

The Marino men played with the benefit of the elements in the opening half with their half-back line of Mark Kirwan, Damien Russell and Gerry Keegan providing a strong platform while Alan Moore and Cathal Billings impressed with 0-3 apiece as they led by 0-10 to 0-5 at the interval.

The visitors kept in touch through the free-taking of Mikey Ryan and gradually played themselves back into contention with Cal Aherne immense at centre-back, getting valuable support from Seán White and Lorcan Heavey.

Moore, Mossy McGrane and Keith Connolly kept Vinnies on top but scores from the impressive John Kelly and Brian Dillon ensured a tight finish and a late free from Ryan brought the sides level, moving the Templeogue club to joint third in the league table.
