NA FIANNA 'A' ...1-11
CLONTARF 'A' 2-4
"WE certainly like to do things in a dramatic way at Na Fianna," gasped Roisin O'Sullivan.
Roisin had just seen the Mobhi Minstrels claim Feile Division 2 glory in a pulsating debate.
It was looking bleak for the Glasnevin club as they trailed by seven points at half-time.
"It was an amazing comeback," stated Roisin, who manages the side with Liam Connolly, Ricky O'Sullivan and John Freir.
Clontarf were 2-3 to 0-2 ahead at the turn. Their goals came from their captain, Rebecca Brennan, and the pacey Caoimhe O'Connor.
Two frees from the supremely accurate Ali Horan sparked the Na Fianna revival at the start of the second period.
Eimear Nolan's deflected free, four minutes from time, proved telling, and it was quickly followed by the equaliser from Amy Sheehan.
Caoimhe O'Gorman then nudged Na Fianna ahead. Yet, right on the bell, Alanna Kelly's delightful point, from out wide right at the church end, sent the tussle to extra-time -- 1-7 to 2-4.
Na Fianna then finished the job with two points in each period of the extra-time. O'Gorman got their opening effort and Horan curled over a beauty with the outside of her right peg.
The magnificent Horan then added the custard with two more spoonfuls of sugar, one from a free, and the other a nugget from play.
On the last whistle, the Na Fianna audience, high up in the stand, burst into sustained applause.
"Unbelievable," declared one of their number. He was right.
