FAUGHS made light of their exertions 24 hours earlier when defeating NH MEARNóG, 2-12 to 0-14, in their Dublin AHL Division 1 encounter at Tymon Park last night.
After beating Ballygarrett (Wexford) by 2-14 to 1-14 in the Leinster League Division 2 on Monday, Faughs were slow out of the blocks as they trailed by 0-6 to 0-1 in the first half but Fergal Heavey's goal gave them a much needed boost entering the second-half.
Damien Burke and Emmet McKenna shone in the central defensive positions, alongside wing-forward Ciarán Brennan while seven points from Heavey and John Kelly's late goal saw Faughs home by four points.
Across the park, ST JUDE'S were made to pay for a sloppy first-half performance as ST BRIGID'S recorded their first league win of the year, 1-14 to 1-12, despite an injury to Paddy McAvinue. Colin Lynch, Aodhán McInerney and David Smith all impressed for the visitors with Jesse Kennedy's seven points and John Ryan's goal proving too little too late for the Templeogue men.
