Hand steals late victory for O'Dwyer's

THE Dublin Féile Peil na nÓg Division 8 final was a well fought affair at Parnell Park as two great north county Dublin clubs, O'Dwyers and St Maur's, battled it out with the former emerging victorious, 0-7 to 1-3.

With O'Dwyers winning by the same one-point margin in the group stages on Saturday, this was always going to be a tight affair and the sides were level at the interval on 0-2 apiece.

A breathtaking save from the winner's goalkeeper, Chris Teodorescu, halfway through the second period kept his side in touch after Maur's had found the net just after the restart.

Tom Downes and Fionn Hand were the main dangermen throughout and it was Hand who kept his cool to slot a free between the posts late on to seal a famous win.

Meanwhile, at Blakestown Road, Division 9 threw up an all-southside affair as the men of Kilmacud Crokes squared off with their near rivals Cuala.

The Crokes men managed to recover from the concession of an early goal to emerge victorious, 1-5 to 1-2.

The game was level at the break, but a superb Fergal McGinley goal just after the restart put the winners in control.

Cuala battled bravely but Crokes had star performers all over the field as Ciarán Horan, Eoin Bleakley, Eamon Keating, Alan Lundon and Matthew O'Neill caught the eye in a brilliant team performance.
