Garden men punish Carlow ill-discipline

DIV 4: Thirteen-man Carlow fell to their arch-rivals Wicklow by 0-14 to 0-7 at Aughrim yesterday, putting the Garden County top on points difference.

Carlow suffered a hammer blow three minutes into the second half when Alan Curran was sent off for a second yellow card offence, and their problems were compounded six minutes from the end when Padraig Murphy suffered a similar fate.

At Nowlan Park yesterday, London dished out a sound 1-17 to 0-2 beating of their struggling hosts, Kilkenny.

Waterford and Longford drew their encounter at Fraher Field, the game finishing 0-10 to 1-7. Longford's goal came from a Francis Magee penalty after 30 seconds. Clare beat Leitrim 2-12 to 0-17 at Cusack Park. Leitrim had led by 0-9 to 0-5 at half-time and had been the dominant side throughout.
