DUBLIN SFC 2ND ROUND
NA FIANNA v UCD
(O'Toole Park, Tonight, 7.15)
BACK to the Crumlin Crucible for both sides.
Neutrals will be hoping that the game will mirror the excitement of the club's respective black ball first round wins.
Na Fianna beat Thomas Davis. It was amazing that the game went ahead at all. It was the Friday of the downpour.
But the O'Toole Park turf has long been a season-ticket holder for Bloom.
Pillar wasn't singing in the rain in the early chapters of the match. Thomas Davis were smelling of roses.
But making a telling impact off the Glasnevin bench were Eoin Murchan, Aaron Byrne and Eoin Neville.
In the end, the Mobhi men won by four points. Taking them home were late scores from Conor McHugh, Adam Caffrey and Tomas Brady.
The following day, the students brought better weather with them, and they had to weather their own storm as they were reduced to 14 men after 40 minutes.
Eventually, they overcame Templeogue Synge Street by a point. And they had to show grit and guile to do it.
Louth's Rob Carr had a terrific match. Excellent from play and frees. Mark Hughes got the golden goal.
This is a duel that could sparkle.
VERDICT: Na Fianna
