MAYO fans with a disposition to looking on the bright side of life might note chirpily that Kerry launched a successful All-Ireland campaign in Pearse Park not so long ago.
Then again, in light of recent events, we're not sure such a creature exists anymore. Alan Dillon, Trevor Howley, Chris Barrett and Pat Harte are all available for selection again but Mayo's problems are more deep-rooted than the mere names on the team sheet.
Although you would be hard pushed to find a worse team in this year's championship than Longford and even if Glenn Ryan's men raise a gallop at home, Mayo should have enough experience to avoid another embarrassment.
