Dunne and Brennan help Syls blunt O'Toole's

Nigel Dunne and Mark Brennan shared 10 points as St Sylvester's comfortably accounted for O'Toole's by 0-17 to 1-5 in their Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 encounter at Broomfield last night.

The hosts dominated from the outset with Eoin Fanning and Shane O'Connor impressing at midfield and Dunne's seven points alongside solid defensive displays by Ronan Walsh and Gavin McArdle saw Syls home with nine points to spare.

At Russell Park, Lorcan McCarthy's goal proved pivotal as St Brigid's recorded a narrow 1-11 to 0-12 victory over St Vincent's.

Alan Daly, Barry Cahill, Eoin Maguire and John O'Loughlin all featured prominently for the hosts with Vinnies ultimately ruing a 50th-minute penalty from Tomás Quinn that struck the upright.

In AFL2, Ballinteer St John's maintained top spot following an emphatic 1-19 to 0-6 win over Templeogue Synge Street in Marlay Park.

Fearghal Duffy netted for St John's and with Pádraic O'Connor, Paul Cronin, Duffy, Shane McCann, Sam Tully and Aodhán Clabby all on target, the hosts maintained their unbeaten start with relative ease.
