Dungarvan and Curran put an end to éanna's All-Ireland tilt

Dungarvan CBS 1-16

Coláiste Éanna CBS 1-10

Leinster and Dublin champions Coláiste Éanna's outstanding run in this year's Senior Colleges 'B' Hurling Championship came to a close at the hands of Munster champions CBS Dungarvan in a high tempo game in last Saturday's All-Ireland semi final at Templemore's Town Park, Tipperary.

With history already in the making, having secured their first ever All-Ireland semi final appearance, Éanna had no intention of sitting on their laurels but continue their quest for success.

Sadly, the Rathfarnham school hadn't warranted for an inspirational individual display from Dungarvan's Colm Curran, who singled-handedly broke Éanna's hearts with 10 of his 12 points total coming from the placed ball, opportunities which came courtesy of over-zealist tackling from the Dublin school.

After a shaky start from both teams Éanna found their rhythm with Gavin Corrigan pointing. A goal via Ciaran O'Shea, set up by Cillian Moffat's pass, followed by the latter's excellent long range free gave the Dubs 1-2 without reply inside 11 minutes.

A well-executed score from Dungarvan's Tom Curran then lit up the score board for the Waterford school. Éanna's response was swift when O'Shea landed a point from a tight angle, before a brace of points from Niall Ryan combined with solid defensive back lines kept Dungarvan at bay.

Led by their captain Moffat and Jamie Desmond and flanked by Sean O'Shea and Alan Ryan, the Dublin backs kept Dungarvan's forwards redundant for the entire first half. But Curran's four points, three from frees, kept the Waterford side in touch -- but Éanna led 1-5 to 0-5 at half time.

Dungarvan were thrown a lifeline after the restart when Donal Breathnach connected with Cathal Curran's pass to raise the green flag. Game on. Curran stepped up to the mark striking three sublime frees while a point apiece from Breathnach and Luke Egan put them 1-10 to 1-8 to the good.

With time running out and trailing by three points, the Dublin school needed to find the net, but Ronan Cleary's attempt dinked just wide.

At the other end Curran made no mistakes in front of the posts, calmly slotting over three unanswered scores.

Game over.
