Dubs may get bye into semi

DUBLIN'S path to a Leinster title may be shortened next year, with Leinster Council set to examine the appetite to grant them a bye to the semi-final round.

The prospect will be debated by delegates from province in October, prior to their draws for next year's Leinster football and hurling Championships as a potential solution to the sort of one-sided results Dublin subjected Longford to on Sunday.

"We gave Kilkenny a bye to a Leinster semi-final (in the Leinster hurling Championship). Do we give Dublin a bye into a football semi-final?" asked Leinster chairman, John Horan.

"That's something we have to look at and it will be arrived at by democratic decision."

Dublin are on course for a 10th Leinster title in 11 years and have won 30 of their last 32 games in the province.
