Dubs expect Cluxton to stay

STEPHEN CLUXTON is expected to line out for the Dubs in 2013 under new manager Jim Gavin despite speculation suggesting he is primed to call time on his days in blue.

This is not the first time in his long inter-county career that rumours of an imminent retirement have circulated during the off-season, and on the previous occasions the speculation proved to be wide of the mark.

The four-time All Star (2002, 2006, 2007 and 2011) and 2011 All-Ireland final hero (pictured left) is believed to have met Gavin recently to discuss his future plans.

However, the Evening Herald believes Gavin has already begun to cut 2012 panellists from the squad as he sets about putting his stamp on the Dublin team.

One high-profile player, who featured in last year's dramatic All-Ireland SFC final victory over Kerry, is among a few players who have already been cut adrift.
