ST DOMINIC'S of Cabra has long been a camogie stronghold. Over the years, the trophy cabinet has been bulging. The college opened in 1835.
Supplying players to the various Dublin teams has been a way of life. It was no different this year.
For the first time since 1982, Dublin won the U16 A All-Ireland Championship.
Dominic's had three players on board -- Ciara Carolan, Chloe Rochfort and Lilly Condon.
Presently, between their junior and senior squads, Dominic's have 10 Dublin girls on the roll. JP Sweetnam and Seaghan Kearney are the coaches.
"We won both the Dublin Junior A and Senior A championships last year, so the big focus is to retain them," states Seaghan.
"We all still recall the excitement that was in the school when we reached the All-Ireland Senior A final in 2006. We'd love to make another big impact in the All-Ireland series."
The Dominic's Diamonds don't lack dedication. They are out polishing their skills in all weathers.
"Between the two squads, we have 45 girls playing, so that's very positive," adds JP.
