Consistent Syl's can shoot down 'Tarf

ST SYLVESTER'S v CLONTARF (Tonight, Drumnigh, 7.0)

THE Good Doctor, Noel McCaffrey, is the new Clontarf manager. The boy could play.

'Tarf top Division 3. Three wins and one draw from four games.

Sylvester's are prospering in Division 1. Same as it ever was. But there has been a big change to life in the village this season.

No Cleere name on the team-sheet. The Cleere brothers were part of the fabric of Syl's. Still are. No doubt, Kian and Airy will be tuned in from across the ocean and Nicky will be at ringside.

Bannigan's Boys have been knocking on the door for that big SFCbreakthrough. Crokes foiled them in a rain-drenched quarter-final last season, 1-6 to 0-6.

Syl's reached the Division 1 final, losing to Na Fianna, but they have been ultra consistent. And Gabriel's Oboe plays gently on. The Malahide club have signed a talented trio in Declan Rooney (Down), Ken Sweeney (Sligo) and Eugene Keating (Cavan).

Gary Sweeny and Miceal McCarthy are also Super Syls - both might have a point to prove to Jim Gavin. Yet Clontarf have a few gems of their own in Aidan O'Halloran, Jack McCaffrey, Ian O'Dwyer, Patrick Mohan and Ciarán Johnston.

VERDICT: St Sylvester's
