Competition is intense: Sorcha

Sorcha Furlong is optimistic that Dublin have room for improvement ahead of Saturday's All-Ireland quarter-final against Kerry in Birr (12.30).

"It has been about five or six weeks since the Leinster Final and things have been going well in the camp. We have had an opportunity to work on things that maybe have not been going as well for us this year and that's important as we progress in the championship.

"As one of the older members, it is great to have younger players coming through and pushing us for places. These girls have come through successful minor, U16 and U14 teams with All-Ireland titles and they have the confidence to go with it.

"Nobody is guaranteed their place, whether they are captain or vice-captain.

"I have been looking at Kerry the past couple of years and they are a quality side. They have some great forwards and a new defensive set-up, which is very focussed on stopping the opposition scoring. It is a huge challenge for us. Like us, they have been knocking on the door for a few years so they'll be keen to take that extra step," added Sorcha.
