Coman Goggins: Tipp test calls for epic minor display

BEFORE the main event there is the matter of an All-Ireland minor title to be decided and having watched both semi- finals, the young Dubs will have it all to do if they hope to land a first All-Ireland at the grade since 1984 when they meet Tipp.

Bolstered by the best midfield pairing at this age group, in Ian Fahey and Stephen O’Brien, Tipp have two footballers who have the ability to open up the Dublin back line if Dessie Farrell’s young guns aren’t fully tuned throughout.

Having struggled for large portions of the game against Galway, the Dublin defence will need to produce a big performance, as this Tipp attack will cleverly try to isolate TJ Ryan and star man Michael Quinlivan one-on-one with the Dubs full-back line, with both equally adept at hitting the target.

While the Dubs have their own talent in dual star Ciarán Kilkenny, the reality is that it will require a massive team effort to get over the line, one which would be greatly enhanced if those lucky enough to hold a ticket got to the ground early to show their support.
